Lev Raphael is the prize-winning
author or co-author of eighteen books in a range of genres: fiction, memoir, biography and literary criticism, mystery, and psychology. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Massachusetts and a Ph.D. in American Studies from Michigan State University. His fiction and essays have been widely anthologized, written about, and taught at colleges and universities. Raphael has published hundreds of stories, essays, articles and reviews in a wide range of newspapers, magazines and journals, and his books have been translated into nearly a dozen languages. A seasoned and popular speaker, Raphael has done hundreds of invited readings and talks across North America, in Western and Central Europe and Israel at colleges, universities, writing conferences, book fairs, churches and synagogues. Raphael was a long-time review columnist for the Detroit Free Press as well as reviewing for NPR, the Washington Post and other news outlets. He is the former host of his own public radio book show where he interviewed guests like Salman Rushdie and Erica Jong.
